New housing estate in Colne!
Category: Gas Membrane ProtectionStructure Waterproofing
The Greenfield View site, Carry lane in Colne is a new development that has been designed to build 21 new houses by the main Contractor Barnfield Construction. After sub-soil investigations were carried out, results came back and the need for structural waterproofing and gas protection was needed. PRS and Fosroc came together to design, supply and install the most suitable and affordable system to provide protection for the new housing. Waterproofing was a vital part of the construction for the partially ground retaining walls, while gas protection was essential for the ground beams and foundations.
A design was made, and a type A + B system was to be used to protect and conform to the British standard BS8 102 and BS 8485. Prior to back filling the retaining walls and slabs. The retaining walls were constructed using Supercast SW hydrophilic waterstops in the joints and Proofex 3000MR applied to the external face. Proofex Engage waterproofing membrane was laid under the concrete slab. Proofex Engage has a proven track record and the advantages that it bonds to the structure and is a fully bonded membrane preventing water tracking. It is robust and not easily punctured and has an integral lap detail. The product comes with a full range of ancillaries enabling further details to be added to meet specific requirements such as pipe entries and corners.
Fosroc and PRS were able to design, supply and install a fully integrated system meeting the requirement for both watertight and gas protected construction, conforming to the British standards.
