New housing estate in Colne

Category: Gas Membrane ProtectionStructure Waterproofing

THE PROJECT

The Greenfield View site in Colne, is a new development consisting of 21 houses by the main contractor. PRS & Fosroc came together to assist the architect in the design of a system to provide protection for the new housing.

THE GROUND GAS & WATERPROOING PROTECTION SYSTEM

In relation to waterproofing a Type A + Type B system was to be used to protect and conform to the British standard BS8102.

The retaining walls were constructed incorporating Fosroc Supercast SW hydrophilic waterstops in the joints and Fosroc Proofex 3000MR applied to the external face of the walls. Fosroc Proofex Engage waterproofing membrane was laid under the concrete slab. Proofex Engage has a proven track record and the advantages that it bonds to the structure and is a fully bonded membrane preventing water tracking. It is robust and not easily punctured and has an integral lap detail. The product comes with a full range of ancillaries enabling further details to be added to meet specific requirements such as pipe entries and corners.

Fosroc and PRS were able to design, supply and install a fully integrated system meeting the project requirement for both watertight and gas protected construction.
